chrishandcock Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Hi All Looking at the above machines as a possible for our venue for party nights. We have tried a few different ways of distributing confetti for our party nights and nothing has worked very well. It’s a multifunction venue with ballroom floor. We have party nights with a couple of bands and a dj and the organiser wants confetti at a couple of points through the night. Maybe at the end of numbers on stage but wants good coverage. So far we have tried hand held cannons (the big magic fx style ones) These don’t go far enough and do not have a very wide spread. We’ve tried swirl fans but again don’t get much distribution. Ceiling height is only about 4.5 metres. Airbursts are not an option. We’ve looked at co2 machines but they are pricey and are more for longer duration effects. And I think the ones you pump with compressed air are a bit punchy given the low angle and again ceiling height. We are running out of ideas. So the question is, the above machines seem to be a good medium between some of the other options. I’m aware they won’t be room filling, but if we could get some round the front quarter of the room it might do the job. Has anyone got any experience with these, or know anywhere we can hire one to try before we shell out and they aren’t the right thing again? Or if anyone has any other confetti related ideas, that would be greatly appreciated. Based in Somerset if anyone local has one to try. :-) Thanks in advanceChris
ImagineerTom Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 Balloon burst confetti drop is your answer - you could put a dozen small ones around the venue to give you as much spread as you need
Stuart91 Posted September 21, 2018 Posted September 21, 2018 We've got a few of them in hire stock. (In Glasgow, so not much use for a demo unfortunately!) On the whole, I've been quite happy with them. They do a decent amount of dry hire, and are simple enough for novice punters to work without fear that they'll do anything dangerous. We have a Swirl Fan as well, and I'd expect with a low ceiling you'll get confetti projected further, but all the same you'll probably still want at least four Funfetti units spread around the room to get any sort of even coverage. If you are hanging them from a grid, then the launch angle will be shallower, which means that the capacity is reduced, but if it's just a couple of shots during each performance that shouldn't be a big problem. I'd definitely recommend trying before buying - maybe pick one unit up from somewhere with a generous returns policy so you can ship it back if it doesn't do the trick for you.
timmeh2 Posted September 24, 2018 Posted September 24, 2018 Hi We've used precharged air cannons which worked very well, particually with streamers. You charge them with an ordinary compressor. All the bestTimmeh

All the bestTimmeh Oooh have you got information on those? name brand etc, as im looking for a panto single shot fetti option, with approx a 9/10m throw.. and then reload for each show. do let me know. or even a hire price too...
ninjadingle Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 I've always used Showtec FX Shot for confetti drops - used with an 8 way IEC power switch. You have to be very careful about keeping the power routing separate to all other mains as it's powered by IEC, but works well for snap effects. Eeen - If these units interest you I know a hire house in Swindon that can sort you out...
timmeh2 Posted September 26, 2018 Posted September 26, 2018 Oooh have you got information on those? They were Le Maitre. The ones I used appear to have been superceeded, these ones use the silver C02 bullet thingies. Should be able to get them from most companies. All the bestTimmeh

All the bestTimmeh Many thanks for the info... im looking for something like the ones that I can re-compress using my workshop compressor instead of buying a load of co2 bulbs.. but hey ho. maybe a funfetti might be the answer... Thanks for that but I tend to use ForceFX Magic Fx ones, as they do a double shot in a single plate. and its on power con or TrueOne... but thanks anyways.
