Head of Lighting Department / Senior Technician

 

Innovation Productions Ltd are a busy hire and production operationbased in Barnsley, Yorkshire, specialising in the hire, installation andsales of audio, lighting, AV and staging equipment.

We currently have a vacancy for a full time Head of Lighting / SeniorLighting & AV Technician within our busy hire department.

 

Salary:

• £19200 to £22,500 (Dependant on experience / qualifications) per annum

based on 45 hours per week. With 28 days holiday per annum(inclusive of bank holidays).

Location

• Based at our Barnsley Headquarters, although event work would benational and involve occasional overnight stays.

 

Hours of Work

• Due to the nature of the theatre, TV and events industry, evening andweekend work will form part of the roles working pattern. Working hoursare on a flexi time basis to suit demands of the business.

 

Reports to:

• Project Manager.

 

Scope:

To represent Innovation Productions Ltd at all times with a high level of pride,responsibility, care and consideration.

To be an integral part of the hire departments operations.

To have full responsibility for the preparation, set-up and operation of lightingequipment and video as required.

To have full responsibility for the hire of all equipment including testing,maintenance, cleaning and repair and for the production of relevantpaperwork.

To assist the hire department as a whole in both warehouse and event siteactivities, actively assisting all other departments where required.

To project manage events and activities when required.

To manage other staff and freelancers where required.

 

General Duties:

• Prepare equipment for hire and produce relevant paperwork.

• Help clients load / unload equipment.

• To rig, operate and de-rig lighting, video and all other equipment forevents as required.

• To design, program and project manage on events as required.

• To produce lighting plans, rigging plots, patch lists and all associatedpaperwork as required.

• Check equipment back into stock on return and to update the hire stocksoftware

• To clean and maintain equipment and run both lightingand video departments to the highest possible standard.

• Repair / arrange repair of equipment as required

• To actively participate in assisting other departments in bothwarehouse and event duties including (but not exclusively) loading ofvehicles, keeping the warehouse and all facilities in clean, usable order,build of indoor and outdoor stages.

• To provide full technical support to clients, Innovation Production staffand freelancers.

• To provide insight, direction and innovation in order to push thestandards of the lighting, video and Innovation Productions as a wholeforward

• Make deliveries / collections when requiredOther Duties:

• Answer telephones and arrange hires.

• Assist the installation department as and when required.

• Any other duties deemed suitable by the management

• To promote Innovation Productions services to potential clients whenappropriateSkills:

• In-depth experience of modern lighting and video systems.

• Good working knowledge of GrandMA consoles, Martin / Robe / Varilitemoving heads and ability to repair when required

• Good working knowledge of Christie and Panasonic projectors andother av equipment

• Good practical electrical knowledge• Excellent time management skills

• Good phone manner, with strong interpersonal communication skills

• Excellent computer and writing skills.

• Ability to work under pressure and to resolve situations calmly anddiplomatically.

• Neat appearance.

• A cheerful, positive 'can do' attitude

• Attention to detail and pride in work

• Confident driving of 3.5T vans.

• Clean drivers license.

• Ability to work at heights safely and confidently.

• Strong and Healthy, able and willing.

 

Beneficial Skills

While we do not to expect applicants to have all of the following it wouldcertainly be an advantage to have any of the following skills / certifications:

• Driving license for categories, B+E, C and C1.

• Forklift truck / telehandler license

• IRATA / NRC rigging qualification

• Health and Safety Training

• Industry related training (Pasma / IPAF etc)• First Aid

• Willing to learn to drive vehicles up to 18 tonsEducation:

• Good standard of education (English GCSE A-C) including Maths /English

• University Education preferred but not essential• Industry related education preferred but not essential

• Electrical / electronic qualifications preferred but not essentialTraining

• Training will be offered to suitable candidates for certain skill sets.
