bothamp
I have 4 ETC Source four Revolutions which have all developed a similar fault with there scrollers. We have found that if you change colour one frame at a time the scrollers will give you all 24 frames with out any problem. However if you ask the scroller to go from frame 6 to 18 or any other combination of frames the scroller struggles and then scrolls through the frames incredibly slowly. They will work perfectly well again if you then home the unit and then change the frames one at a time. I have tried replacing the Velcro pads on the drive motor and scroller module with no effect. Has anyone else had similar issues with there Revolutions and if so how did you overcome the problem. Any advise is welcome with the exception of 'replace them!' IRW
I had exactly this problem last year. Unfortunately, I was the programmer, so I wasn't hands on fixing the units- annoyingly I'm sure the proddy LX told me what he did to them, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Something to do with either tensioning or driver chips maybe? Sorry this isn't more helpful, just thought I'd let you know it's not just you! I seem to remember quite a few of ours going funny over the tech period. I've got a feeling we hired the kit from PRG- so maybe someone in their service department might be able to advise? bigclive
It sounds like the typical issues experienced with an encoder problem. It may be that when the scroller shifts just one colour panel then it remains at a speed where the encoder can work, but when it runs faster it misses steps and goes out of sync. Oovis
While I was running a show with Revolutions we eventually realised the ageing motors just simply couldn't pull a full-length colour string reliably any more. We reduced the number of colours and had no further problems.
bothamp
Thank you all for all your advise, I suspected it possible could be the motors however I did wonder if there could be any other possible causes for the fault. It's looking like an order to ETC for replacement motors could be in order. Thanks again Paul
Paula
I have 6 of these and the way I got around it was to change the colour time channel default in the fixture personality for the desk or in the patch for each fixture. If you just put a fade time in the cues or pallets it wont work as well, as when you highlight or locate the fixture it will still run too fast.Change the default colour time (Col Time Channel 10) to 6 seconds. That is 006 out of 255 in the personality file or the Patch. This has given me trouble free running of the scroller ever since.
