I've finally got round to sorting out why our Unique was overheating. The thermistor wires were touching where they plug into the PCB. I didn't spot this the first time around because the short was hidden by the thermistors insulation. Bending the wires apart solved that problem, and now everything works as it should with no more overheating. :) ! Thank you for your help everyone.

Now I just need to replace the air pump again. The original pump is an Elite 800 aquarium air pump which is no longer manufactured. The pumps spec. is 1,500cc per min/90 Litres per hour of airflow, so any air pump which meets that spec. should be fine. Replacement diaphragms are available for the Elite pumps, but its the coil thats failed on my pump which is also what happened to the original pump as well.
