ekul1978
Just wondering if anyone had any advice on a cheaper alternative to the Robe RDM (its a little out of my budget) to update the software on my 700's
StijnS
I asked this a while ago to the folks at Robe, and got the following response: You can use a FTDI USB->RS485 cable (http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/Cables/USBRS485.htm), but you'll have to set some settings using the FTDI's "FT PROG" utility.Set the following settings:C0: TXLED#C1: RXLED#C2: TXDENC3: PWREN#C4: PWREN#The Robe DSU update utility somehow needs echo back to it, these settings should do the trick. The Robe guys are quite good at support, even if you want do do things that are not (or should not be) in the manual.

Andygwk121
Hello With the latest version of RDM flash of robes web site you can update over Ethernet. Just make sure your computer is on the same ip range and subnet mask as the units. you can ether update them one at a time or connect them up to a switch in a star network. not certain if this works with 700s with the older screens but give it a go and find out. ekul1978
Thanks for the reply Andy - that was the first thing I tried after speaking with Robe but unfortunately the 700's don't take updates over Ethernet only the newer Robin range.
