benwillcox Posted April 30, 2015 Share Posted April 30, 2015 There was a similar thing at Plasa last year called Pixcell Mapper where they demonstrated pixel mapping across a bank of mobiles phones: http://www.pixcellmapper.com/ .They told me that in a venue the devices get their physical position information from a mesh of wireless access points (that apparently the devices doesn't need to associate to) which I thought was interesting. timsabre Posted April 30, 2015 Share Posted April 30, 2015 There's an article in this month's Lighting and Sound about an illuminated audience pixel system which gets its pixel mapping data from infrared video projectors pointing into the audience. The output is set by data encoded into the video, and because it's "seeing" a particular area of the video projection it automatically maps. Very clever.
