paulears
Have a look at these cheap chinese digital radios I've fallen across - there's a rather long winded youtube video, but the possibilities might be very useful for some of us.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cQ20LMha7I8
sandall
Look interesting, but I'd lost the will to live by 10 mins in. :)
paulears
The scary thing is the guy has actually remembered all these features! The ability to have cheap portable radios that can do text, voice and pairs, groups or all calls is pretty good. There was a clear delay when he spoke into them, but you get that on a mobile phone too. I assume that when the signal gets weak, they just cut out? Must say the price point is good for what they are.

paulears
Looks like sticking in a jack wired the wrong way takes out there audio chip?
Oldradiohand
Is this legal for use in the UK? I thought PMR446 radios had to be restricted to 446.0 to 446.1?
paulears
No, no use for PMR446 as it's too powerful and has a detachable aerial - neither of which are OK. PMR446 is also offset in it;s channels, so despite having the right channel spacing, they are not on exactly the right channels if you do use them in that band. I'd use them in the UHF business channels, or on some other frequencies I have legal access to. That said, PMR446 is the new 'CB' frequency - lots of people using too much power in the wrong place. Oldradiohand
Ah, missed the power rating! Yes business use only. I presume we all know we need a licence for this?
