I wish I'd taken the Protonic training. keep finding how to do stuff on a bit of software we've been using years! Yesterday discovered the benefit of the custom number field. When you search for an item it searches both Custom Number & Item Name. We didn't include the Manufacturer in the Item Name on the grounds that it was more to type when searching. Eg. If there is no data in the Custom Number and the Item Name is say Shure SM58, then to search for an SM58 you'd have to type in Shure & scroll thru all the Shure mics or type Shure SM58 or *SM58 to find it. So, we elected to use the Notes Field below to record the manufacturer. Big mistake! Had we entered SM58 in the custom field & Shure SM58 in the Item Name we could search for either SM58 or Shure. With over 2,500 items in the database that's way to much re-typing. Will give me something to do on Boxing Day! Has anyone else here found similar? What do you use your custom fields for?
