Nick512
For My next show I need to get a computer generated image to the HD-SDI format. The Media Server can throw out a dvi image at 1920 x 1080 which is correct for HD. After lots of time researching I have only found 2 products that claim to be able to do it. 1. gefen HD-SDI - DVI converter. (apparently this works both ways by changing an internal configuration) seems to be the cheapest option at around 1,200GBP http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=2566 2. Miranda DVI Ramp.. (again will do the job but only works with selected graphics cards, the one I have in the media machine is on there list.) this has a cost of 9,000GBP http://www.miranda.com/product.php?I=235&l=1 Anyone have any other idea's suggesions or experience of the above. for you info.....Image Generated in RADLite Media server output through DVI This then needs to go into BARCO's New XLM H25 which has DVI but my cable lengths will be over 12m which will lead to glitches running at such a high resolution (1920 x 1080) and the dvi input on projector has a max resolution of 1600 x 1200.. the HD-SDI Input will Map to the panel in the projector at a better resolution. http://www.barco.com/corporate/en/products...sp?element=2048 Thanks For Help
viktorkr
Well, very nice problem, and also nice solutions you mentioned.... Actually I never saw Gefen and Miranda on work, but the things I have read about them are really good, and it seems that they will do a good job. But Gefen also has a DVI repeater wich will work due to specifications up to 15 meters, so maybe you can do it that way. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_11_4...er-10-2004.html Personally I prefer your solution to convert it to HD-SDI, but cost of that solution is another important question. Maybe you can hire some processor like AnalgWay EVENTIX (with optional DVI input and HD-SDI output) or Folsom Image Pro-HD (which is also now a part of Barco)or similar. I have EVENTIX as described for a very short time, so I didn't have time to test your configuration, but interesting thing is that ,due to specifications, accepts analog signals with max. 1600*1200 resolution. But I feed signal from Mac G5 with resolution 1920*1080 on analogue input (over 20 m cable) and it works excellent. So maybe this XLM H25 could also work similar wit DVI input and that was the reason why I mentioned DVI repeater. Good luck

I have had very good luck going that route
BlueShift
I second the DVI extension vote Get some DVI to fiber converters and run it that way - ive used such products and got lengths of 75m running 1600x1200 @ 75hz with absolutely no issues. It will be cheaper than any of your other options there too... Cheers
Nick512
Thanks For the advice guys, I like the idea of the DVI to fiber extender but over the distance we ended up running the signal 130m I couldn't get the resolution we needed. great cheap solution thought. We finally went for the Folsom Image Pro-HD which does everything we require very well and also gave us a standard SDI monitor out and a whole bunch of other options. dannyp200
Nvidia make a graphics card the Quattro FX 4000SDI or the more expensive 4500SDI that output HDSDI direct from the desktop. You can choose any format from 625 line PAL upto 1080p I don't think there is any way of getting from DVI directly to HDSDI except via an analogue route, and I'm pretty certain the Geffen unit only goes one way. The HDSDI out is a loop through of the input
