There is not really a lamp counter as such on the CLM's. The hours run is held on the individual lamp module, and the overall times the machine has done held on the projector. So the usage of a lamp stays with the lamp - useful if you're trying to match lamps to get a match pair in terms of brightness, as you can swap them between a pair to get an aggregate average burn time in the two machines.

 

However if you're trying to cheat it by putting a used lamp back in, hoping to reset the counter, you can't do that :-).

 

That said occasionally the lamp chips get corrupted - we had one lamp, that according to the timer, had burnt for 136 years….
