adam2
A major lamp supplier has suggested that these may not be available for much longer. These are the mercury vapour lamps that also contain a flament and work directly from the mains, without control gear.Usually 160 watt. Not much used in theatre, but I have seen them used in working lights, and less often for other purposes. They have the merit of instant starting at full output, but change colour noticably as they warm up. Some countries are banning them in favour of more efficient lamps. No ban in the UK AFAIK, but production may cease for want of demand. If anyone here still uses these I urge either stocking up or looking for alternatives.
