mr_towers
Hi folks, Trying to sort out transparent heatshrink for protecting asset IDs on our various bits of cables (mainly including 1.75 + 1.5mm TRS and a bit of artic cable). Before we order I thought I'd check with the assembled minds here - is this likely to be suitable? If not, what do other people suggest? Thanks in advance! csg
thats 12mm dia before shrinking, with a 3:1 ratio that will shrink to 4mm ish. ideal for mic and patch leads, but too skinny for 1.5mm H07. I would suggest something around 20mm giving a shrunk dia of 6.5mm ish
savage1
bit small I'd go a little bigger to make it easier to put on over labels, tape etc. I got 100 meters 12.7 which is ideal for mains. Although I suppose it really depends on your cable.
mr_towers
Thanks for quick replies! Based on advice I'm inclined to go down the route of this (24mm, 3-1 in a 3m Length). Though after Mr Savage's suggestion there's this option (12.7mm, 2-1, 1.2m Length). There's a fair price difference between the two, can anyone suggest what the operational differences might be? Thanks again!
csg
If any of your TRS is 2.5mm, you will run into trouble with the 12.7mm. It will be tight on much of the 1.5mm out there too. 20mm will fit both, and still shrink down properly.
Ashley R
On my Mic cables, fatter DMX cables, and 1.5mm Sq 3 core flex I use 20mm 2:1 clear heat shrink. Works a treat on everything!
mjriley
And if you start with a larger diameter heatshrink, when shrunk down it will be thicker and more durable. Mike
mr_towers
24mm 3:1 ordered! Here's hoping it fits our needs. Thanks!
