Martin Atomic Issue

Hi Guys.

Having some issues with a Martin Atomic.

Its powering up, receiving DMX and running fine, However its not striking the lamp.

The lamp is brand new and works fine in my other Atomic unit.

Ive opened the unit up and nothing seems to be out of place comparing the two units together. However the issue is there.

Any ideas?

Regards

N

Just remember there are some SERIOUS voltages in there.

Don't go poking around with a multimeter on the trigger circuit, or you might find you don't have any fingers left.

Or a heart still beating.

Now the 'don't poke' warning is out of the way: Metered the imput, fuse (often don't look blown, but are). Checked caps for bulging, take the board out, check tracks for any charring or dry joints.

Then you can start with the probing - check around R136 area, as the early pcb's tend to go around there, along with R179. check for blackening and check the resistance.

Are you getting any clicking ?

Very old thread I know- and you have proberly got sorted. But, for reference:

The Atomics are known for components burning out when the Lamp expires. Usually it is a couple of capacitors and a couple of SMD Resistors (Just repaired 2 units with the same fault).

The idea would be to replace the lamp before it fully expires.......(Is there anyone who would actually do that?) Ummm no!.

But if you do get involved with repairing further units, be very careful and remember the caps can stay charged for quite a while after unplugging.
