JamesGillett
Hey, I have a production next week, and we are using a zero88 jester desk.Out of this, a DMX to 24 way demux. The demux will then go to 2 sets of analogue lights AND a DMX to a betapack. Will DMX addresses need to be set, if so how would. I do this? Thanks in advance
Shez
Yes they will need to be set. What you set them to depends on how many dimmer channels each of your dimmers has. If your two analogue packs are each 6 channels for example, set the demux start address to 1 which means that the lights plugged in to them will be controlled by channels 1 to 12 on the desk. Set the betapack to channel 13 and it will be controlled by channels 13 to 18. Just ensure that there are no overlaps in the addresses that you set otherwise one desk channel will control more than one dimmer channel.

Shez
I'm sure your search engine of choice will find you a manual for the demux too. In general terms, addresses tend to be set either on a menu, or with rotary switches (one for hundreds, one for tens and one for units) or with a row of dip switches (which usually use BCD - binary coded decimal). Analogue dimmers don't need to be addressed as they're controlled directly by individual control voltages from either the desk or a demux.

BCD is using binary to represent individual digits rather than simply a number. e.g. 32 in BCD would be 0000 0011 0010 (0 Hundreds, 3 Tens 2 Units) in Binary for dip switchtes it would be 100000.
