FdA Live Event Production

Recommended Posts

BACKSTAGE ACADEMY®'s 16 month Foundation Degree (FdA) in Live Events Production (validated by The University of Bolton) is pioneering in its links with industry, its fast-track intensive format, opportunities for work placement, included industry certification and online assessment style. The course in Live Events Production is now underway, and we are welcoming applications for the next intake, which will be November 2013. The course takes place at BACKSTAGE ACADEMY® in South Kirkby, Wakefield, in West Yorkshire.

The ACADEMY benefits from its unique link to some of the world's leading productions and production personnel. LS-Live is Europe's biggest studio rehearsal and production facility that services high profile artists like Kasabian, Lady Gaga and Dizzee Rascal; TV and film productions from the likes of ITV, BBC and MatteBlackFilms; and pre-production for brands like Jaguar and Formula One.

We work only with carefully selected lecturers, education consultants and industry tutors to ensure we are providing the very best training possible. Our 2012 programme featured sessions from live mixing guru Dave Swallow, Star Events Founder Roger Barrett, The Prodigy's Leo Crabtree and P!nk/Sade FOH Engineer Chris Madden, to name a few.

The programme has 12 modules, each delivered over a four week period. In addition there is a period of over three months where (via our Institute of Backstage Arts™) you will be supported in finding work and developing an individual career plan.

The Foundation Degree Course in Live Events Production focuses on the artistic and creative use of technology. It includes modules on lighting, sound, staging, live visuals and entertainment control networks, together with work skills, concept and production design and specialist skills such as lasers and emerging 3D technologies.

Training includes a range of industry accredited qualifications (such as the Event Safety Passport, Working at Height, Stage Pyrotechnics, Emergency First Aid, Working with Electricity and WYSIWYG to name a few.
