bigclive Posted June 20, 2013 Share Posted June 20, 2013 It sounds like an elevator was grossly overloaded with steel. When you exceed the rated capacity of an elevator it can cause the brakes to lose traction and unintentional movement which often causes grievous injury to anyone standing in the doorway area when they get trapped between the top of the cage and the landing floor.
