Sennheiser IR radiators

One of our Sennheiser Infra Red radiators for our Deaf/Blind Access services has developed a flashing red light.

I have a manual, and a constant red light is good, as is a green light, which is better. A red and green light is bad, but no mention is made of a flashing, or rather, flickering red light. It looks as if it is a loose connection, but the external connections have been check and to no avail.

Before we try and take it down for service, as it is pretty inacessible, has anyone any ideas to save a really nasty job?
