Exhibition Screen Playback

Cameroon

Recommended Posts

Good morning blueroom -

I've got a little dilemma, I'll explain the situation. We have a 6month install of an exhibition that has two seperate screens, both need to have a mixture of video and powerpoint slides on loop for that period.

Anyone have any solutions? We've been thinking two mac mini's?

Regards Cam.

Embed the videos in powerpoint?

If using Mac version of Powerpoint you can use .mov files, PC version tends to like mpeg or AVI. Play with the encoding to get a quality you are happy with.

Certainly the newer versions of Powerpoint handles video so much better than earlier versions.

Another option would be screenmonkey on PC.

Or Dataton watchout - what is your budget like :)

None of the above will work , use a brightsgn player. http://brightsign.biz/ for a six month instal you want something you can author to and schedul then walk away from knowing its just going to work the hd120 player will do what you want and costs just over 200.00 net. You will have to render your powerpoint slides as a series of jpgs or as video, but thats simple to do, dont expect that a laptop running sofware will last 6 months without any user intervention let alone not get fiddled with even once youve worked out where to put it. We have dozens of theses players hidden behind screens all over the place and never had one fail. If you want to get clever, you can use the networked brightsign HD210 players to act as a master and slave so your screens run seperate but syncronised content. It works well and its actually something thats fairly tricky to do any other way.

+1 for brightsign, or as an alternative, OneLan http://onelan.com/ both have several models which can run standalone, or networked. Connect them to the internet and you can remotely push content to them when inevitably the client changes their mind half way through the run. I've installed plenty of both types and they just keep on running day in day out.
