sleepytom
They offer a lot of features for the money, but they are not very user friendly. The menu system leaves a lot to be desired. The image quality is perfectly OK, they could just do with being a bit easier to use.
David Lee
Agree with sleepytom. Most horrible user interface going. But do a good job once set up.
productionpeople
The menu system is horrible and you have to use a lot get used to it, but the switchers are very good and reliable technical support is good.Repairs are much quicker than analogue way which is the closest manufacturer. The only other thing is make sure you get a model with two scalers otherwise it will fade through main source, which can look rubbish if your not careful. Pmaughan
Thanks everyone. I will use it a lot so will have plenty of time to work out menus so long as it works well when set-up. For the money they look good. CheersPete
Jasonbrownstuff
If your looking at tv one id take a look at Kramer as there much easier to use.any advice on kramer please give us a shout
AHYoung
Ive got both tv one and kramer products and both are probably "good" - it really depends on your application. TV one units are not the most user friendly as far as the interface goes but are probably the most cost effective way of integrating sdi into a system if you need to do so. Cant really definitivly answer the question as equipment isnt "good" or "bad" as such, just appropriate to the task and budget and thats unknown... sleepytom
Indeed, and any bit of kit is only as "good" as the operator. This is partly why certain brands are generally regarded as "better" than others. EG The Imagepro is "the best" multiformat converter, not because its image quality is especially fantastic, but because it is well known by lots of techs in the industry and is therefore easier for people to get good results from. Stuart_Burdett
Not sure if anyone has used it but an easier way to navigate through the TV One menus, in my experience, is by downloading the CORIOtools software. By connecting the network port of the C2-8000 range to my laptop I am able to have a visual of the menu. I appreciate that you shouldn't need to have a laptop when controling switchers, should be quick and simple buttons on the front panel.
dwright2104
Just a little question, dose the TV-One units do programme and preview mode, similar to the kramer vp-747 as im investigating into getting a new switcher for conference stuff, and the preview function on the kramer unit is very handy to check the source is ready before making live. Thanks guys.
Pete McCrea
Depends on which one you are talking about as they have a reasonably large range. Depending on how much you're planning to spend, do have a look at the new Barco PDS range - they're quite competitively priced and come with the build and image processing quality that you'd expect from Barco. sleepytom
Yes it has a mode where it works like a normal vision mixer with preview.
Pete McCrea
I'm not sure on whether the PDS offer a key - I've asked the Barco rep, so I'll report back. The PDS-902 lists at a fair chunk less than the TV One unit too.
