SoLiEn
Hello Ladies and Gents, Just a quick question, Does anybody know if it is at all possible to remote control the go button of an ETC ion using a user defined key on the Yamaha M7CL? I Know you can buy and RFR for the ION and that you can get an App for ipad/iphone/smart device, but I was just wondering if the above is possible? Kind Regards Dan
gordontech
Contraversial. Linking sound and lighting... I like it You can get an app for both (I believe). So potentially you could use your phone. I am curious though, I shall press the watch button now. G
gareth
Would MIDI be the most sensible way to do this?
Smallsy
You can control the lighting desk via Midi very easily. I know nothing about sound or there desks. But here is a link that will give you the required information to trigger cues via MSC at the lighting desk end. http://www.etcconnect.com/Community/wikis/products/understanding-the-msc-commands-eos-family-receives-transmits.aspx
AndrewGrant
I tried this a while ago but for some reason couldn't get it working. As I was up against it at the time I settled for MSC triggers from QLab. MSC is incredibly on the Eos family and I would recommend heading down that route. Here is a link which I was following at the time http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/lighting-electrics/22139-link-ion-yamaha-m7cl-mixer.html CheersAndrew
gareth
Bear in mind, though, that if you want your Ion to speak MIDI you'll need a show control gateway.
richard
Bear in mind, though, that if you want your Ion to speak MIDI you'll need a show control gateway. Incorrect - the ion has onboard midi in/out - the eos requires a separate show control gateway. Richard
gareth
Well, you live and learn! I've never needed to plug anything MIDI into our Ions, so I've never paid any attention to whether or not they have MIDI ports.
phillo79
You will have trouble setting a udk on the m7cl to send midi, the way I got around this was to record scenes in the m7 and set it to output a program change message on scene recall, if your not using scene on the m7 then record your initial setting to scene 001 and set to transmit midi, the set a udk to recall current scene, put all channels and parameters into recall safe mode, so that when you recall scene 001 nothing changes then set the ions go button to receive midi program change of the corresponding number , and all being well it should work HTH
