If you want to work on building sites you need a Citb (I think ) qualification, which takes about 5 days. But for the entertainment industry, the training company's basic compentance of use is all that is needed ( in my experience). You can then get insurance and most plant operators are more than happy to hire to you. Hope this helps. Also CITB is at least 3times the cost. Last time I just walked into the venue, hung a few fixtures on the side and pressed the on button... no one seemed to mind... or am I talking about something different?
