Just Some Bloke
Put the disc in the desk and turn it on. The desk always looks at any disc that's in the drive when it first turns on, and if it can see new software then it loads it automatically. It really should be as simple as that! P.S. Having loaded the new software take the disc out or it will check every time you turn on to see if you've put new software in again. Without the disc in the drive it starts up much quicker. vinntec
Hi all,Got a fat frog at my local theatre which I use all the time - but I want to update the software. I have the update downloaded and saved on a floppy disk ready but after that how do I do it?! All help welcome :DThanks,Rory B :)The full procedure is as follows (after you download latest software level from Zero 88): InstallingNew Operating SoftwareHere is a step by step guide toinstalling new operating software on frog desks. REMEMBER TO SAVE YOUR SHOW TOFLOPPY DISK BEFORE INSTALLING NEW OPERATING SOFTWARE ON THE DESK !! NOTHING is retained on the desk as part of the upgradeprocess, therefore it is possible to install any version on a desk, regardlessof what versions may have been previously installed on the desk. · Download the zip file from the Zero 88 websiteonto your PC. · Unzip the file. · Copy the contents of the zip file onto a new orfreshly formatted floppy disk. Hint: If you have problems with thedesk not recognising the upgrade disk after a few attempts, try formatting thefloppy disk in the desk instead, and then copying the contents of the zip fileonto it from your PC. · Switch your desk off. · Insert floppy disk into desk. · Switch your desk on. · If a monitor is connected the screen shows: Checking for an upgrade diskReading OS file, please wait (xx%) · Wait until the desk has read the disk and thefollowing instructions appear on the main LCD:. Frog OS UpgradeVersion 10.12.[Continue] {Cancel} · Confirm that you wish to continue by pressingENTER. · The main LCD then shows: Any shows stored onthe desk will be overwritten[install] {Cancel} · Confirm that you wish to install by pressingENTER. · The main LCD will then show the variousoperations it is carrying out during the installation process.Wait until the following message appears on the main LCD: Installation Done,Please remove disk, and switch desk offand back on. · Remove the floppy disk from the drive. · Switch the desk off and back on. You may nowre-load your original show from floppy disk if required. · Make sure you read the release notes tofamiliarise yourself with the changes from the previous software version whichyou were using. If you use the offline editor Phantom Frog on your PC, theninstall the updated version of that too, to keep it in step with the version onthe desk. I presume the original of this is hidden on the Zero 88 website, but I cannot find it now so copied above instead. Peter
