slipstream
http://youtu.be/v40RC4gbILg?t=1m22sNearly bought one of these - till I realised that an iPad on IOS 5 wont work - thats the current software released with the iPad2 - Apparently people have had these 6 months plus waiting for a fix. Thank goodness I decided to check the price and the Amazon reviews caught my eye. Sam
paulears
This has to be one of the worst responses to a world wide product problem by a big manufacturer - hundreds of complaints and then the manufacturer suddenly;y stopping their contributions to numerous forums, when the heat goes up, just do a runner! People tried moaning on the Facebook site and it seems alexis blocked them. How crazy to have a product clearly aimed at the internet friendly musicians, that doesn't work, and then to carry on selling it when people are so upset with it. Lots of people have already decided the treatment means no more alexis products for them. Amazingly bad ways to treat customers customers. I think that when manufacturers join forums and contribute, then it's all well and good being helpful when things are going well, but to drop out of conversations when negative aspects are revealed is bad news. Bobbsy
This sorry saga has to be a salutary lesson for anyone interested in the new generation of stuff that is designed to dock a specific piece of 3rd party hardware. It takes a single software upgrade to make the whole thing go pear shaped. This isn't an isolated (or purely Alesis) issue. You only have to read numerous sound forums to see the chaos caused almost every time Apple release an upgrade for one of their operating systems. Suddenly there's months of problems working out what still works and what doesn't and waiting for fixes.
timsabre
I've done some hardware designs which work with an iphone/ipod touch and dealing with Apple is a complete nightmare. You have to sign your life away to even get permission to do it, and even then they won't give you a lot of the necessary information. Plus they retain the right to force you to discontinue your product at any point as they see fit. Having said that, there's no excuse for Alesis not supporting their product.
