light-man
Hi everyone, I'm replacing a bunch of blown fuses in some Tempus dimmers for college. I normally get them from the local electrical store, however I've decided to get them with some other disposables online from CPC which has a range of fuses. I've never noted which type the dimmers should have, which I suppose I should've done the first time! Quick blow would be my natural choice, however I'm not 100% so thought it would be best to ask! Cheers, Si.
oilyspark
I'm assuming you have 5A sockets and that you are looking for the fuses that protect individual sockets. If so, you want 5x20mm F5A HRC (fast, high rupturing current, ceramic-bodied sand-filled) fuses. If you are referring to the LC 10A (Pullcap) fuses that protect each channel, there is only one type although I don't think CPC stock them. adam2
In general, unless advised otherwise, dimmers should be fitted with quick blow HBC fuses.Quick blow fuses are more liable to blow when a lamp fails, but they better protect the thyristor/triac in the dimmer.Replacing the fuse is quicker and cheaper than repairing the dimmer.
