UV Lighting

Well, you won't be using UV lighting, you'll be using near-UV, also called Blacklight. This doesn't have the harmful 'Hard UV' light frequencies, so the 'exposure' risk, that sunbed lighting definitely has, doesn't exist in your case. The exception is for people who have very sensitive skin or eyes, such as albinos, who generally know what they need to avoid. You have a choice of Blacklight light sources - 400W cannons, LED floods or fluorescent tubes. The cannons run hot, and are not very efficient but give a concentrated light. LED floods cost about the same but aren't so bright. Fluorescent tubes cost a tenner or so to buy, and will fit standard battens, but are easily broken, so need protecting if within reach of the audience. Unlike cannons, the latter two aren't a major fire risk!

The cannons run hot,

The lamps can also have a tendency to explode if not allowed to adjust to room temp or external influences (some bass made one of mine go). They chuck hot glass out the front and make a loud bang, so try and keep them out of reach of the public!
