FREE CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY 2011

FST IS OFFERING YOUR OWN PERSONAL MENTOR AND 8 MENTORING SESSIONS

An opportunity for analysis, reflection and action that aims to

enable you to achieve success in your work

WHAT IS IT?

Step Up is a mentoring scheme for individuals from all areas of the performing arts – artistic development, management, audience development, production, technical, education, etc.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

From January 2011 you would be assigned a mentor, an experienced and respected arts leader / manager, to provide you with:

•six to eight one to one confidential meetings from January to November 2011

•time to reflect on your working practice, achievements and aims

•support with your work developments, projects and role

•an opportunity for you to develop your self awareness, confidence and skills

FST mentors will work on the principle that you are inherently talented, resourceful and creative and able to resolve issues when you understand them and know how to change them.

In confidential sessions you will be able to ‘think aloud’ and talk through strategies to reach new understandings and insights into your situation. In addition, specific expertise and experience is available from mentors to accelerate acquisition of essential knowledge and skills, for example, in undertaking a new role, and / or fulfilling a project or task.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO NEXT

To be considered you need to meet the following criteria:-

* to be able to demonstrate how you would benefit from support in your current role

*the support of your employer / manager

*to be available to meet six to eight times from January - November 2011

*willing to travel to your mentor and cover travel costs

*work for an FST member org, or be willing to become an individual member of FST

Complete the application form available from the FST website www.scottishtheatre.org

There is no charge for participation in the programme

Deadline: Noon, 7 December 2011
