randomgirlie
Well... I did a show about a year and half ago where we needed a HUGE fountain... You'd be shocked at how many places- mainly LARGE garden centres- will be willing to lend you one provided you can pick it up and drop it off again and possibly give em a shout out on ur promo stuff. We got a large display stock four layer fountain with an internal pump to save you hookin it up and we just run the extension under the stage. Just remember to take into account the amount of noise a water feature makes.... Check the level before ya take it away. Just remember... "Always see if you can get it for free" Happy huntin xx
la grande homme
dearie me oh Lordy! someone who lists his employment as 'mmm well...' should perhaps not be so rushed to pontificate... the kits work very well, as does sitting down, working it out and then building it yourself from pipe and fittings, perhaps a slight clamber down from that there stallion as the air must be getting quite thin now? what nonsense that you have 'denied someone else a job', in the real world we all multi task and certainly with smaller shows and venues there is one tech and they do it all including operating the show. I agree that there are times you should call in a specialist in the field; indeed if this thread was about plumbing in a bathroom or running three phase power under the river thames or inventing a new kind of cheese then bring on the specialiss... but as its about a small water feature in a play, perhaps, just perhaps, chris might cope? my only advice beyond what has already been said would be to make sure you get an good RCD to put between the plug for your pump and the socket. randomgirlie
All this talk of "pros" ect. may be gettin a little out of hand now. If you find a kit thats right for you and you feel confident that it's safe and will do the job by all means go for it but I'll say again, try and see if you can get a loan for free coz - as we all know- When people say "staging" they also tend to mean "as cheaply as possible", ** laughs out loud **. Again, good luck and let us know whatcha decide to do...
Guest lightnix
Surely such kits will have been designed and a manual written for them by pros, especially for untrained idiots, like technical crews, to understand :( They will all have been designed to be safe, carry the CE mark and to comply with the relevant standards and regulations. They are set up in their hundreds across the country by middle aged dads on Sunday afternoons, without incident or mishap and are unlikely to create a situation where......it all comes crashing down around your ears. Water every where, well done. just because they are being used on a show. As Chris asked 'what is the best way to insall it' then the answer is use someone who knows.Or you could try reading the manual first :)
