Lena
Hi, Does anyone know of any cleaning stuff that will get acrylic paint off radio mic cable? I can just sit here and peel it off but I am bored of that now! While I am on the subject, someone once told me of an oil (or some oil based substance I think) applied to the cable to keep it in good condition. Does anyone know what I am talking about, done it or seen it done, or is it just a rumour? Ta
paulears
a friend of mine (ex now!) used nail varnish remover - worked a treat but the cables went hard and cracked! if you use a solvent of any kind, an old dead mic to try it on first is a good idea. Me, I do what you're doing - finger nails - but you're so right about it being boring, tedious, mind numbing - keep thinking other words up to keep you busy!paul
Bobbsy
I've been trying some citrus based kitchen cleaner and it seems to work well (and so far hasn't hardened/cracked the cables). If anybody knows of the magic "moisturiser" for mini mic cables I'd be interested to know though! Bob
Just Some Bloke
I know it doesn't strictly answer the question, but Directa do a spray called 'Sprad' which removes adhesive (e.g. left behind by gaffa tape) from cables. I'm sure other companies do similar things, but I can definitely recomend theirs. Very easy to use.
