mattbrown
Hi, I am after people thoughts and options on the Vari*Lite VL2000 spot & wash compared to the Martin Mac 500 & 600. What do you think is better and why? Thanks! :P
Tomo
They are a different generation of fixture in different price brackets, and they have different lamp power (700W, 575W respectively) The comparison is unfair - try comparing something of similar cost and lamp brightness! mattbrown
When they are put side by side I think you would find that the VL2000 Spot appears brighter then the MAC 500 but then when you do the VL2000 Wash to the MAC 600, the MAC 600 is a lot brighter! Although the VL's have a bigger source.
G2000
The answer depends on the reason for the question. If it is cost, go for the cheapest they are all quality fixtures. If it is output, you've already answered that yourself. If it relates to maintenance, it depends who you ask. Once you get to know any of these fixtures they are easy enough to maintain! mac500
I personally have grown to like the VL range more then the mac 500/600 range.
