Bobbsy
Yup. Wave for me as well, for all the reasons stated. If I'm recording my own music or effects, I work in Audition with 32 bit floating point files for quality and the extreme headroom it gives. However, I convert the final mixes to 16 bit, 44.1 wave files for playback. This allows me to back everything up on "standard" CDs as well--there are still many bits of hardware out there that won't play MP3 CDs. Since my collection of sound effects CDs is all 16/44.1 as well, this keeps me with a nice standard format when I rip material into a computer to prepare for a show. Playback is via a dedicated "clean" PC using a mix of software, depending on the show. This used to be SFX but lately it's been SCS, Multiplay or Soundplant for "random" shows like panto.
