Yesterday I ordered some gear from RS, all items were in stock for next day delivery.

09.00 this morning DHL arrive with a package, I open it, only half the gear, I think...strange.

12.00 this morning DHL arrive with a package, I think... silly bugger, obviously didn't realise he had two packages.

NO! different van, different driver, package number two, the other half of the order, has come all the way from Beauville, France.

It's becoming far more common to get an RS part shipped from the US. It's particularly so with RF connectors and adaptors. Funny as I'm sure Amphenol Jaybeam have UK offices and warehousing. You'd think it'd be cheaper for the UK company to source from the Uk warehouse rather than abroad.

I get Farnell stuff from Australia, UK, and the USA.

Sadly, Farnell have gobbled Newark Electronics in the 'States, which means one less international supplier :o

That's odd. I was told at an RS open day that they wouldn't ever trade in the States due to name issues with Radio Shack. Maybe this has been resolved.

RS parts from the US are usually handled by their subsidiary, Allied Electronics who have their own online catalogue. Allied Electronics took over Radio Shack Industrial in the US after Tandy Corporation sold them.

yep same here with cpc (farnell) with me, had it arrive on same day from 2 different depots

CPC has two warehouses in the UK (Preston and Darwen), Farnell though part of the Premier Farnell group have their own seperate warehouse in Leeds.
