GridGirl
Clicky - yet another stage collapse. Why does this keep happening?!
AndyJones
Interesting to note that I haven't seen any UK ones, Proof that our standards, are much higher than everywhere else?
Rob_Beech
Why, indeed. I do agree with Andy's point that it seems to avoid the UK for the most part.
Matt Pengelly
Having spent four months working in Mexico last year (not far in fact from where this happened), I can only say that I'm surprised nobody was killed. Health and Safety practices over there are not exactly on a par with ours...
lite_lad
did they actually see the stage before they wrote this - He said outside experts had been called in to review the structure to ensure it - or a replacement - could be safely installed
Pete McCrea
Possibly not, but it's quite easy to look back at a structure and work out the failure modes that caused the collapse, and how the structure acted. A sort of forensic Engineering. Once you know the engineering too it's quite easy to understand it. I could have a fairly good guess (having a BEng Hons Civil Engineering Degree) at how it failed from that image, but I won't on an open forum. I don't think they'll be reusing that stage again though....
