chatterbox
Hi, Does anyone have any ideas how to make a "bendy" wand as a prop for a fairy. Need it to be able to be bent and then straightened as required.... Thought about the same format as a magicians wand with the small pieces and string going through the middle, but it wont really bend correctly.... any ideas...?? Could you use that idea but inside a tube made of light foam or rubber? that way it would give a nice bend but could still be straightened easily
slipstream
Solid pieces and a limit as to how much string can be released should make it work - rigid to bent will only be 10mm or so of string, possibly a rigid handle then the bending section so you can create a trigger to tension the string Sam
paulears
wooden or plastic beads from an arts/craft shop, file top and bottom to a flatter profile. Two larger ones at the bottom with a spring between to tighten the entire thing up. Cover in black woven braid - the stuff for cable fan-outs works quite well. Hold in hand, use thumb and fore-finger to pull the top larger bead towards the other, against the string, and it collapses. Release the bottom bead, it springs back. For the string, curtain shop pull cord works fine.
