FREE PERSONAL / CAREER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Federation of Scottish Theatre is offering individuals from all areas of the performing arts – artistic, management, audience development, production, technical, education – 6 to 8 FREE mentoring sessions with a senior arts professional from January to October 2010: one to one time for analysis, reflection and action to achieve success.

The programme is called Step Up and aims to increase the capacity and skills of practitioners in junior and middle management, particularly the case for those recently promoted to new, more senior posts and / or leading new projects.

In confidential sessions mentees will be able to ‘think aloud’ and talk through strategies to reach new understandings and insights into their situation. In addition, specific expertise and experience is available from mentors to accelerate acquisition of essential knowledge and skills, for example, in undertaking a new role, and / or fulfilling a project or task.

All applicants need is:

to be approaching promotion or recently promoted / appointed (last 0 -18 months)

to have the support of their employer / manager

to be available to meet six to eight times from January - November 2010

willing to travel to their mentor’s location and cover their own travel costs

You must be a member of FST, but it's worth joining FST for this benefit alone.

An application form is available from the FST web site http://www.scottishtheatres.com/

Deadline: Monday 23 November 2009

Step Up has been devised and is being delivered by Paul Pinson, Abigail Carney and Jane Hogg.
