Jands Vista: Slowing down DMX Data Rate

Is there a way on the T2, for you to slow the output of the DMX data rate? We have a DMX strobe and it works perfectly on Freestyler (Data Rate Set to 20 cycles per second), however when we try to connect it to the Vista, it doesn't behave right. Once we turn it on, we can't turn it back of. And the channel that controls flash speed doubles up as controlling flash speed and intensity and other convoluted control problems etc.

Thankyou for your help

That points towards a Template/Personality problem.

Many modern consoles have some clever assistance in the user interface that gives you clearer control over the fixture - but if the desk thinks it's a slightly different fixture than it really is (eg in a different mode), then that help becomes a hindrance.

Try patching the strobe as a few dimmers and see if the control matches the manual for the strobe.

Which strobe is it?

If its anything like the profile for the Atomic 3K, then you'll need to use the shutter open/close buttons (in the top-right intensity panel) to stop it strobing, otherwise it will continue to strobe slowly even if you set the rate to 0. Havnt used it for a while and don't have access to the console at the moment but from memory to stop it strobing you need to close the "shutter" and open it again. Then again I may have been using an old personality.

Unfortunately you cannot slow the DMX rate down on the console, however I would re iterate Gareths comments, do try using a DMX buffer box and do make sure the Vista personality is correct.

Kind Regards

Andy.

Thanks for the help, It's a $100 China import - but the fixture setup is correct, we've used the exact same in freestyler.

I'll put forward the idea of purchasing a buffer box.

Thankyou

Alexander
