lifeboat
Hi. A possibly unusual topic here - in terms of application anyhow. I wonder if it is possible to consider the use of video projection onto stage side banners? I suppose that as a rough guesstimate, we would use two custom made electric projector screens, let's say 1.4M wide x 4-5M height. The projection distance would be about 8 or 9Mtrs. The advantage of using video projection oto side banners is of course that it will give far more flexibility when compared to printed, custom banners. Questions at this stage are; #1. Can such electric projection screens be obtained?#2. Is it conceivable that one projector mounted each side could fill each screen, with suitable design of images or masking? Or, would two stacked projectors be required with edge blending?#3. Other options under consideration would to be use GOBO's - with less flexibiity of easily changing the images. Any thought or advice would of course be appreciated. Tkslifeboat
charl.ie
Re #2: If you could find a projector that could cope being on it's side (do they exist?) then a widescreen one rotated 90 degrees would be much better at filling the area than a normal-ratio one. Obviously you would then need to rotate the visuals being projected as well. Some video card drivers allow this: We used to have great fun rotating peoples computer monitors upside down, so they had no idea what was going on. The shortcut was ctrl+alt+winkey+arrow key or something.
Pete McCrea
Yeap. The CLM range from Barco would be quite happy living like that. However £21k for a projector simply for advertising might be a bit too much of a cap-ex to justify.
