nb705
Multitrack or stereo? USB, Firewire or ExpressCard? Line or Mic Level inputs? I like the Sound Devices USBPre, it does exactly what it says on the tin.
Bobbsy
There are lots but a bit more info would be useful. Do you just want a basic stereo in/out or do you want to do multi track work? Laptop or desktop? If the former, do you have USB2 and/or Firewire ports available? If the latter, do you have a PCI slot you can use? Do you need a card with decent mic pre-amps or will you be using a mixer that gives line level outputs? Budget? ....and anything else you can think of!
