alanhj
I thought this would have been an easy three part question, but I can't find any answers. So, the question is: (a) At what frequency (ie months, years)?, should hemp lines be weight tested? (b)How is the weight testing carried out? ©Who does the testing? ie In house Tech Team or a Specilist company? Thanks
DGreen
(a) At what frequency (ie months, years)?, should hemp lines be weight tested? Strictly speaking they should be examined 6 monthly alongside all lifting accessories. (b) How is the weight testing carried out? There is no requirement under LOLER to ever load test any item with fibre ropes, a visual examination of the lifting system by a competent individual will suffice. If a technician is considered by his peers to be a competent individual then the operation can be carried out - bearing in mind what I have said above. However, most venues choose to have an experienced company in to conduct the inspection and sign a Report of a Thorough Examination approving it's ongoing use (or occasionally not...)
