alarge
Hi Wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why our bands Nexo PS10 system is not very loud. From our latest gig (100 people at the busiest point, in a small / medium pub function room) we got a lot of issues trying to get a high enough level on the vocals and the keyboard. We only had the vocals, keyboard and drum bass going through the PA. We think that the main culprit may be the mixing desk (Spirit Folio F1 - 14 Channel) although to be honest we are not really sure. We used to run the PS 10 tops through a QSC PLX3102 amp, using a ps10 TD controller, although now we have the Nexo PS10 Amp to power these instead. The qsc was used to power two ls500 subs. We also use a BSS FCS 966 Graphic Equalizer and a Alesis Quadraverb GT (reverb effects for the vocal). We also got a Universal Audio 1176ln compressor , but haven't had much time to set it up so didnt use it as that made the vocals even quieter. Things were so bad in the end we had to use a monitor to boost the front of house. Any ideas would be awesome, thanks! Andrew
slim_mcslim
possibly the plx 3102 is a bigger amp than the ps10 amp. depending on what mode the nexo amp is in. the graphic could be cutting the signal post mixer, it could be a number of things, butif you know that the ps10 amp is fully working, then I would try a removing all the processing from the chain, and then try it with a different mixer. it is possible that the ps10 amp has an input sensitivity selector internally, but I don't know the unit well enough. Killyp
When you say you couldn't get enough volume, was something clipping? It may well be a gain structure thing...
6th Order
Also, was you rig 'loud' enough when you powered it with your original amp?
greenalien
How did you have the channel strip settings arranged on the Spirit F1 mixing desk? There are a lot of different adjustments that can affect overall gain - each channel has several EQ pots, a gain / attenuation pot, and a channel level slider; then there's the overall master level sliders. All will have an effect on the final output level.
