ed_ld Posted July 5, 2009 Share Posted July 5, 2009 I remember back when I used to work in the lanterns department at White Light, we'd be prepping hundreds of source 4s a day and this was a fairly common occurence. It was down to the way the HPLs are manufactured. If you happen to put the wrong pressure in the wrong place the glass had a habit of popping and shattering. It was in our H & S procedure to always use a little plastic 'condom' when swopping out HPL lamps to avoid any eye damge. I think these 'condoms' come with all Ushio lamps - or did at the time.
