timtheenchanteruk
I need to make up some cables for composite video to run to a pair of projectors. the cable run is 20M at the longest. I already have a roll of RG58, would this be suitable or not? Many thanks
sleepytom
RG58 normally has an impedence of 50ohm - video cable should be 75ohm impedence. RG59 is standard video cable, its cheap and easy to crimp BNC ends onto, however the solid core and stiff insulation makes the cable prone to kinking and somewhat hard to coil. Personally I prefer the van damme video coax as it is much more flexible and thus easier to manage, although slightly harder to put BNC ends on due to the stranded inner cores. Van Damme also sell ready made cables with BNCs already on, this is the best option if you don't like puting ends on cables as the made up cables cost little more than the cost of the bulk wire and ends. Both CPC and VDCTrading sell them quite cheaply.
timtheenchanteruk
cheers, I have plenty of bncs and phonos (as the vis mixer we are using has as outputs) so will go purchase a roll of RG59 eee, more fun terminating stuff.
James
If you want RG59 then consider the CPC pre terminated leads http://cpc.farnell.com/pro-signal/psg00522...-20m/dp/AV14120For £6.28 I doubt you could buy the raw materials for that! Or you might want to consider PSF1/3http://www.canford.co.uk/Products/36-366-C...Cream-BBC-PSF13 James
