paulears Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 The thread running on aux fed subs reminded me of this technique. I first came accross it a few years ago with Jim Davidson. He preferred to have his PA set up with a fader for his mic FOH and another, via an XLR y-split for the monitors. Although a bit odd, it did make mixing him easier as the monitor mix meant a great deal to him, and the FOH to me. anybody else use this?
JohnK Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 We use this quite a lot if we are mixing monitors from front of house. HTHJohn
James Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 Somethimes it's the best way to do it, Particularly if the aux is post EQ. Run the same signal into two strips, ignore the mons on the FOH strip and run the aux on the mon strip post fade James
Dave Posted June 23, 2004 Posted June 23, 2004 The technique is also used for instruments that play both solos and as part of the band. You insert a compressor in one of the channels and use that one normally, then when a solo comes along you bring up the uncompressed channel.
