rabbitanny
Does anybody have some good advice about warm and clear sounding mics for high/clear/but intense soprano voices? (Live, music)
Bobbsy
Well, if you're talking a handheld with a typical band, the Neumann KMS 105 is hard to beat on the style of voice you describe...but sit down before you check the price! FYI, Sennheiser have a radio mic variant that uses the same capsule as the 105 and also sound lovely on female voices. If you're talking a more traditional operatic style, the common way to handle this is with one of the DPA miniatures (maybe the 4023) on one of their long extension tube stands. Finally, we had the dreaded Andre Rieu through before Christmas and for a big stadium type show he had his sopranons on DPA headset mics....probably the omni version but I wasn't that close....and, if you ignored the schlock music, the sound was darn good. Bob Yes, small acoustic band, sometimes close-mic singing (soft) sometimes belting/sweet/low to really, really high and even sometimes harsh. Wondering what could handle all that. Charlie Jeal
Shure Beta 87s both the c and a variants are good as is the new Sennheiser E965 or if you really want a heart attack at the price check Shure's KSM9 and also +1 on the KMS105 but they aren;t good for clumsy people. Seriously though your best bet is hire a few of the likely choices and check em out first. Charlie
Gareth Owen
Have a bit of a search through the Blue Room Achives and see what comes up. Flicking through, this thread might be useful.
