theroo Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 hey me again  man you guys are really helpful ;) how do you fasten a truss bar to the cable? There are a variety of techniques I know, but what are the pros and cons and what tools are used in the process? What is the most common and why? thanks again!
Pete McCrea Posted May 22, 2004 Posted May 22, 2004 Several ways. Each manufacturer will have advice for their products. One option: Wrap it with a truss steel ('Steel' being a Steel Wire with eyes at the ends, a truss Steel having protective plastic layer to prevent damage to the truss) or slings. Fasten to the steel (or cable as you called it) with a shackle. Other option is to use a spreader- U section steel, with clamps. Attached to the bottom chord of the truss. This has a eye in the middle, which you can then shackle to the steel that you are supporting the truss from. The most common is wrapping, as it is quick but effective. All slings and other equipment is subject to the LOLER regulations- Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations.
