Home positions

Hey,

AFAIK from using the Fat Frog (FF) several times it isn't possible to re-assign home positions for the fixtures. Maybe an easy way around this would be to create a position palette with the desired "Home" position for your fixtures, this of course is assuming that all you want to "Home" is the fixture position and not any of the other parameters!

It is possible to change the Home positions of fixture profiles not fixtures. Meaning that you could make all the Mac250's home at Pan 128 and Tilt 64 or something but not just one fixture.

You can edit the personalities home position by downloading the fixture editor of the Zero88 site here then opening the Fixture Type Editor. Once you have done this you have to have the fixture type file you wish to edit. These can also be found on the Zero88 site. Import that into the Editor by selecting Opening an Existing Fixture Type File and Clicking OK you will then be able to edit everything you wish using the software.

You could make a copy of the fixture but change only the home position (as smalljoshua says) and save it with a different name (e.g. MAC 250 M4 [new home pos. here]) and assign only the fixtures that you're going to want to habve a different home position to that fixture, where as others would just have the normal fixture.

Don't forget that the same value would be applied to all fixtures of the same type. So if you want your home position to be, for example, DSC, each fixture would be have to have a different profile as each would need a different set of values. Therefore, I recommend that is this is the case, you just use a palette.

Hope this helps!

As others have said, on the original Frog range the Home position is defined by the fixture profile. This can be modified using the fixture tools, but to create a custom position for each fixture will require creating a custom profile for each fixture. One more rule of thumb - if you're setting a 16-bit position, the Fixture Tools require you to enter the WORD value (which is the resultant value when the two pan channels are multiplied together) - so to set the fixture to 50% Pan, you need to home the Pan channel to 32768 (128 * 256). The numbers displayed on the LCD display and within the original Frog range software are the individual channel output levels, so just multiply the two together and enter these into the fixture tools.

On the newer (ZerOS) desks - Frog 2 and Leap Frog 48 / 96, you can customise the home position from within the desk software, by going to EDIT FIXTURES in SETUP.

I hope this helps - if you need any more help, don't hesitate to let me know.

Regards
