raj Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 My old Jem technohaze has recently died :** laughs out loud **: Any suggestions on other hazers around the same size and price bracket (and any to avoid in particular!?)
smeggie Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 take a look at the neutron hazer by le-maitre[if I remember correctly - they are always just known as the neutrons] when clean they have an output that kicks jacksie. dosent leave a residue and lasts forever. just remember to let it warm up and clean itself before use. cheersandrew
Neil Frazer Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Neutron Star XS is the current model and yes it does kick ass. You do need to clean it regulaly though. Avoid the Unique hazer it is more of a smoke machine than a hazer.
smeggie Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 ps. wireless electricity does happen already. it just makes a hell of a mess and a bang. along with tripping the breakers as well. :** laughs out loud **:
Ellis Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Wireless electricity happens without a bang, and does not blow any fuses. There is an apochryphal story about a farmer near Droitwich who had a huge coil in his loft, running his freezer off the Radio 4 transmitter. The BBC aparently detected it because of a dead spot in their coverage. Radio hams have to be careful when running high powers (we can use up to 400W on some bands) lest we induce dangerous voltages in other conductors!
Neil Frazer Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Fine if your going to be picky! :** laughs out loud **:
DSA Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Used a neutron xs last week for our rock concert - very impressive - just dont knock it over! ...(someone did, and apparantly circuit board is knackered - bit of luck the hire guys saw it before me - they seemed fine about it (although I havent had their invoice yet) and I dont thik they will charge)) and I still had another one and it worked great - just left it on all night, and no problems whatsoever David
Djbarryblue Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 yes I agree the Neutron Star XS does kick ass. we bought 2 of them and so far have only used 1 during a show/gig in the centre at the back of the stage as it is so good Baz

colinmonk Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 If you want to go all the way, nothing beats a DF50 HazerCome with a multitude of controls: ( On or Off ) http://www.reelefx.com/products/df50.htmDoes exactly what it says on the box!
robloxley Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 I seem to remember someone being quite enthusiastic about one of the very cheap disco hazers that looks like an exact copy of the NeutronXS - forget the details though.
Bob in Derby Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I remember that too... it was the Chauvet unit - do a search for "Chauvet" and have a look. As it happens, our Neutron Star keeps going very poorly - replaced chips, re-fixed heater elements, all sorts! LeMaitre very helpful but its still not very well Thinking of getting a Chauvet unit (or even 2 for the price!) as backup units. I had a very brief play with one, and despite being a bit more like a smoker than a hazer, seemed pretty adaptable!
Neil Frazer Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 I'm surprised to hear that, Ive been using 2 XS's every day for over a year and have had no problems with them. Admittedly the older models seam to have some problems though.
mac500 Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 Martin/ JEM do the 24/7 Hazer. Have a look on martin.dk and you can look at the range they do.
andy_s Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 we bought a Look Solutions Unique Hazer a year or so ago - it works OK, is small and easy to use, and cost well under a grand including a flightcase. If I'd had a bit more spare money I would have gone for a DF50....
