Evolution_Mark Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 So you can update the software in a MAC250. So, how do you get the update fram a PC to the fixture? I would guess you have to use the propretry uploader... or is there a shortcut?
peter Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Most hire companies use a Martin MP-2 uploader, but I'm not sure if you can do it using a serial link. I think Stage Electrics have an MP-2 as part of their hire stock, so you could always hire that and do the uploads that way.
Neil Frazer Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 The only way to upload software to a mac250 is to use a MP2 (or the older MPBB1 thing). Stage do have them in the control department but don't hire them out as far as I know. I am sure they would do it for you for a small fee.
peter Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 Neil I believe they now have one MP-2 for public hire. As you say, it might be easier to get them to do it, for a fee - or perhaps send the units for a service to Martin?
Neil Frazer Posted April 8, 2004 Posted April 8, 2004 As far as I know they only have two and I have one of those. but you may be right. Big Al sends his love by the way.
gareth Posted April 10, 2004 Posted April 10, 2004 If you're not too far away from Chester I could come and visit you with my MPBB1, for a suitable fee ...
Simon Allan Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 You can also use a "DABS" uploading device which is part of the "Mum" package. More info here The big advantage is that it is alot cheaper than an MP2 (£107, exc. VAT. Retail) and smaller. The disadvantage is that you need some sort of PC (with USB) to run it, unlike the MP2 which can upload on its own as well as store the software for up to 14 different types of fixtures. Cheers
P. Funk Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 u think the acronym was a bit forced there? "multi utility manager" ;) there's also a martin DAD "DMX addressing device"...
peter Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Don't forget the Wife... not sure if its an aconymn but the subtitle is rather humerous...The Martin Wife. If there’s a fault, she’ll find it.
