martinkings
As I'm not a sound person, someone asked me to source some microphones for a play, the flesh coloured ones that essentially stick to your cheek. What are they called as I can't seem to find them on CPC hope someone can help
Ben Langfeld
Lavaliers or lavs for short.
martinkings
That's what I though - but on CPC they seem to have only clip-on ones. I vaguely remember that you could get ones that someone went on the cheek, but I don't see them there. Am I losing my mind and just imagining things. Bobbsy
Ben's link should give you what you're after. However, just to clear something up: The kind of mic that would be used up in the hairline or over the ear stuck to the cheek are the same as you found for clip on use. The "sticking on" process is part of the art of the sound department and everyone has their own favourite combinations of wire, surgical tape, toupee clips, etc.etc. for this purpose. You'll find lots of threads on this topic with a search of the Blue Room. The other option is the sort of mic that comes on a boom that fits over one or both ears. These can be a bit more conspicuous but work for many shows. Bob
pisquee
Or get some cheap wire coat hangers (plastic coated, and easily bendable ones) and tape the lav mic to it, this way you get an easily custom fit headset for each performer.
