jimbob
Hi All Just wondered if anyone has experience of using these what like are they ? Understand they are silent operation so ideal for theatres and they can be fitted with Their own Colour Changer. Considering these for a unaccesible area above the stage Front of House. Any feedback on use and Costs to buy would be good. Thanks Merry Xmas James
JMC
They're good! A lightning fast multi-plane shutter system, which is pretty amazing.. You can create shapes that are completely unattainable with conventional systems. Every shutter can move from any position to any other position in about 0.5 seconds! The web management interface is great, albeit slightly quirky (the english isn't great at points, and it's not particularly self explanatory - beware the difference between "reset" and "calibrate"). You're able to reset/calibrate individual "rings" of the system without affecting the rest of the lamp, which can be useful. Output level and beam quality are similar to S4. The speed can be set to various levels, so you can find a balance between noise and agility. This varies from everything going at full tilt very fast, to only moving one part of the system at a time very slowly, for completely silent operation. But to be honest even at the fastest setting they are very quiet. If you go for them, make sure you buy an extra one to have as a spare, as they're quite difficult to find for hire in the event of a breakdown.. Also make sure you buy the service kits and get someone in house trained up for maintenance -- again expertise is hard to find in the UK.
LXbydesign
Glynbourne Opera House has them as part of their permanent rig and HOD LX, Mr Benson swears by them for their reliability, silent operation and good beam output / optics. They did a shoot out against other similar fixtures, but for a theatre-in-rep enviroment, the ADB,s came out top
jimbob
Thanks for the replys. Anyone know rough cost of one compaired to VL1000s or ETC Revolutionsalso does the unit require a channel from the stage light dimmers to fade the light or does it just require a 240v supply, was not sure thought I read somewhere that it requires both 240v supply for motor unit and supply from Dimmers for spot ? Nick S
As with most halogen fixtures, yes, it needs to have the lamp run off a dimmer, in addition to hard power.
benweblight
Though this can be advantageous in a Theatre situation, as it will have the same dimming curve as the generics.

There are several version of Warp/M available - the conventional unit utilises a tungsten lamp that will require an external dimmer channel (or an on-board IGBT dimmer). Other versions include discharge lamps that don't require an external dimmer channel. Regards,Barney
