James C Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 My Mum's trying to get her hands on a £5-note that would have been legal tender in 1951 for Rattigan's "The Deep Blue Sea". If anyone has one that she could "borrow" (only to look at, of course. Because copying it would be illegal, now, wouldn't it?), or knows of a website that'll show an accurate representation, I'd appreciate any leads.
MikeR Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 Hi Heres a couple of links to a fiver that was in use between 1945 -1960 Hope it helps.FrontReversethe reverse appears to be just blank as far as I can see, what you see in the picture seems to be little more than the front side image showing through with the exception of the number. The main site url is just in case you cant get to the links direct you 'll have to navigate though. In fact Ive just noticed the date on the note itself "52" so... Hope thats of some use.
peter Posted February 28, 2004 Posted February 28, 2004 This website is invaluable for finding bank-notes. Check out the Fun banknotes too. Peter
James C Posted February 28, 2004 Author Posted February 28, 2004 Thanks, Mike. You've just elevated me to "favoured offspring" status! Peter - sadly their British notes only go back to the 60's, but thanks for the link - I've no doubt I'll have use for it in the future!
